*Volunteering, Art, Workshops, etc.

Thank you for your interest in contributing to Lumaterra Festival!
Unfortunately, applications for Lumaterra Festival 2023 have now closed. We encourage you to apply next year!

*Leave No Trace.

We want leave the land looking better than we found it. Avoid glitter, feathers, sequins, and anything else that has the potential to create waste (this includes tossing cigarette butts). Whatever you bring and whatever waste is created is taken with you when you leave. Waste bins will be available in common areas, but it’s always a good idea keep a small bag for personal use on hand.

Additionally, please leave plants, rocks, and other natural objects that you may find on the land.

Click here for more details on Leave No Trace.

*Fires.

If the conditions allow, there will be a communal fire pit and burn barrels for everyone to enjoy. Personal campfires are not allowed.

*Swimming.

There is a pond on that land that you’re able to enjoy, but there are a couple of things to remember:

  • Always swim with a buddy.

  • No swimming at night.

  • No soaps or shampoos (even if they are biodegradable).

  • Try to use a sunscreen that will not harm the fish and other wildlife that call this pond home.

  • No waste of any sort (not even organic waste) into the pond.

*Children.

If you would like to bring your little one(s) (aged 5 and under), please contact us.

*Pets.

While we love our furry friends, we ask that you leave your pets at home. If you require a service animal to travel with you, please get in touch on Facebook or email lumaterrafestival@gmail.com.

*What to Bring.

You mean beside your fine selves? Treat this like a camping trip with the additional bonus of costumes and dancing. Here are some packing must haves:

  • Food and water. While there will be water on the land, it’s always a good idea to have a personal supply for yourself. Nourish your body. Snacks and full meals are a must!

  • Camping gear. This includes your tent, tarps, bedding, kitchen gear (coolers, camp stoves, reusable cups and dishes), headlamps or flashlights, and trash bags.

  • Comfortable footwear, clothing, costumes, a swimsuit and towel. The last one is optional, but this is an outdoor event that will take place rain or shine so prepare yourself for whatever mother nature has in store.

  • Ear plugs. Foam to sleep, HiFi for the dance floor.

*General Guidelines.

Be Be respectful, kind and courteous.
We’re all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are great, but a dose of kindness and empathy needs to be injected into the conversation for a debate to actually occur.

No hate speech or bullying.

Our goal is to make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind is not allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated. Anyone who acts disrespectfully will be asked to leave.

If you see or experience any of the above, reach out to security, first aid/sanctuary, or the event organizers.

*COVID-19 Protocols.

We have chosen to make this event public so that friends of friends can attend, but we are still limiting capacity. As always, consent is crucial. If someone does not want to be touched or wants a bit more distance, remember they have the right to this personal space.

Lumaterra Festival will operate in accordance with the provincial and local health guidelines and recommendations. The government of Ontario’s current response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic can be viewed here.
